You know children need to play outside but you just don't know where to start...
Are you worried about children getting hurt or lost? Overwhelmed at the risk assessments and ratios? How will you get insured? Unsure how to stop saying ‘no’ and start saying yes? Self-doubt about your own bushcraft knowledge and skills?
Perhaps, all of the above?
We get it. We’ve been there too.
[FREE MASTERCLASS]

What if we told you that learning how to guide children’s play in a wild, natural environment is the key to:
👉Embedding sustainability practices that go beyond just recycling and become a part of your everyday way of being.
👉 Building your own confidence with the natural world and the life skills that humans have utilised for years - building a fire, making a shelter and using hand tools without the fear of “not doing it right” or hurting yourself.
👉Becoming the Go-To Educator; the one that every parent loves because they’re giving their children real life, hand-on skills and resilience.
👉Being all over the safety protocols and procedures for fire, tools and water and how to manage large groups of children with ease and enthusiasm
👉Feeling invigorated and swapping plastic playgrounds and sterile classrooms for trees, creeks and sunshine
👉Sharing your passion for children, the environment, hands-on learning and giving future generations the best start in life.
👉Seeing and believing how much you can trust children to be the capable, curious and responsible beings they are. They are just little humans who want to contribute to real world tasks!
How do we know this? Because that’s exactly what Forest School & Bush Kindy has done for us.
(And, if you're ready to give it a go and follow a step-by-step map that works? It can do the same for you, too).
Hey there👋 We’re Nicki & Vicci!
And, in less than six years, Wild Schooling has transformed our careers and our lives.
100% THIS IS NO EXAGGERATION.
But before we get to that, let us introduce ourselves.
We are Ex-High School Teachers, Forest School Leaders, Trainers, and Hosts of the Raising Wildlings Podcast. These days, we’re homeschooling our children and enjoying life in the slow lane on the Sunshine Coast, while growing our own successful business, Wildlings Forest School, showing others how to embrace play, adventure, and freedom.
Life didn’t always look this way, though.
When we first learned about the Scandinavian philosophy of Forest Schooling we had no clue how it would look in our local environment.
We had:
- Very minimal ‘bush skills’ and know-how
- A handful of friends interested in coming to a session with their kids
- Literally, no-one had heard of “forest schooling” in our area
Oh my, how things have changed!!
Here’s what has been happening since then:
- We’ve hosted literally THOUSANDS of children in our Forest School Programs
- Our Forest School has won three Sunshine Coast Business Education & Training Awards & Outdoors Queensland Nature Play Education Award
- We’ve opened up a second Forest School location in Brisbane
- And funnily enough, our bushcraft skills are pretty good now!
- We have seen the ripple effect move from the children in our programs, to their parents and into the community - all from playing outdoors on a regular basis.

We’re showing up each day to work knowing that we are empowering children to play with courage 💪
The best bit?
We’ve packaged up our entire process for Forest School Programs that will allow you to do the same without the rules and regs overwhelm, the trial & error of group management in wild spaces, the mind-boggling risk assessments, and watching Youtube late at night to figure out how to build a shelter or campfire.
~ INTRODUCING ~

Helping experienced and aspiring play workers and educators master the delivery of outdoor, adventurous programs regardless of where they are in the world, so that children can learn thrilling, hands-on skills without watering down children’s experience.
Forest School Skills is a completely online program that focuses on the practical, on- the-ground skills you’ll need to master the implementation and supervision of adventurous nature play activities such as hand tools, fire, tree climbing, temporary structures, ropes and water play with children. With best practices, procedures and systems that will give you the confidence to deliver adventurous play programs that will empower children to play boldly in the natural world.
~ So, What Does This Look Like?~

Step One
GATHER
Forage through the history of Forest School and deep dive into the philosophy and impact this style of learning has on children and their development and in doing so, discover your ‘why’ so that you can find that fierce child advocate that’s feeling sparked reading this! Break down all your barriers to understand and manage the nitty-gritty logistics of playing in a wild space from ‘what to do about toileting’ to processes for an emergency. This step is about understanding the rock-solid foundations of Forest Schooling so you can be confident in your mentoring approach going forward.
Step Two
GUIDE
Learn everything you need to know when it comes to working with hand tools such as: round tip pen knives, hand saws, drills; and adventurous activities such as fire, fire strikers, campfires, kelly kettles, ropes and knots, shelters, tree climbing, water play, upcycled rafts and natural loose parts. Giving you the proven methods for group facilitation, risk assessments and safety practices when introducing children to natural play environments.

Step Three
GROW
Our tried and tested practices for creating a learning environment that is centred around respect and collaboration. This is the invisible work that Forest Schooling provides children, where you learn how to nurture the learning and relationships of children, risk reluctant parents and co-workers. We dive into respectful communication, behavior management processes (it’s different outdoors!) and your role in the forest. It’s also where we dive into tried and tested equipment, resources, clothing, sustainability management, planning

DON'T JUST TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT!

Tanya | Nambour Christian College ECE
"It was amazing. I learnt so much and really enjoyed the way that Wildlings shared their passion for outdoor learning with us. It was the most informative, useful and creative PD that I have ever done. Put the dirt back in childhood is the way forward! I hope that more schools take this approach and learn from them.’

Monica Sara | Family Day Care Providers C & R Cowling-Scaife
“Yes! We have begun our wild adventures! The Educators have really embraced it which I am absolutely stoked about as it was the outcome I wanted. The children really enjoy the wild adventure we are experiencing and each week more and more Educators are coming along. Just to let you know that without your course I don’t think I would have the confidence to run these sessions. I am really enjoying watching the children learn, grow, build confidence and just be outside in the wonderful surroundings that mother nature has to offer, so thank you for guiding me and introducing me to bush kindy.”

Bec | Little Village Early Learning
"Thank you so much for sharing all of these wonderful resources with us. We will be sure to begin incorporating these immediately, you will be pleasantly surprised that many of them, we have done already or are currently implementing now. It has been extremely insightful and filled with so much knowledge! The team has taken away so many ideas and begun embedding so much since the PD.”

THIS COURSE ISN'T A GOOD FIT FOR YOU IF:
You think you really need to learn practical skills face-to-face.
Look, we get it. And there are a couple of wonderful providers offering face-to-face courses. If that’s what you feel you really need to get the courage to actually take the leap and go outdoors, please do it! We have decided to create this course solely online for a few reasons:
Firstly, because we get INUNDATED with queries about offering these skills online.
Face-to-face courses (here in Australia) are few and far between.
Some can’t afford the additional cost of travel and accommodation on top of the course cost to attend these face-to-face courses.
Some schools won’t approve the PD due to the required time off (sometimes up to 5 days) and/or relief teaching replacement costs
Sometimes the course times just don’t suit or people don’t want to be away from their families that long.
In Australia, there are many states/territories where these skills/face-to-face courses aren’t on offer and the same goes overseas.
Some people don’t want to do a Level 3 from another country, where the accreditation doesn’t mean anything in their own country.
We still offer face-to-face courses for all the skills included in our online course. If you or your centre would really prefer to learn them face-to-face (and with us), please email us at [email protected]. We travel anywhere across Australia and the world and can tailor the course specifically for your needs and your nature space.
SOUNDS GOOD... BUT I'VE GOT A QUESTION?
I’m a parent, not a teacher or educator, but I want to learn these skills for myself and so that I can teach my children. Can I join?
Is Wild School Skills an accredited education/childcare/Forest School Leader qualification? Will I become an accredited Forest School Leader after completing this course?
How long do I have access to the course content?
Will this training include information about child/educator ratios?
What’s the difference between this and other Forest School Leader courses?
Will I be able to be insured for this kind of program?
Does your course cover Water Play and Water Safety?
I own a childcare centre/run a school department. Can my staff do this training?
I have already completed my Level 3 Forest School Leader training. Will this be relevant to me?
Can I purchase one module and not the whole package?
I live in a country other than Australia, will this training be right for me?
Level up with hand tools, fire, ropes, tree climbing and water play skills so that you can empower children to learn the natural way with supported risk-taking.
IT'S TIME!
To create a Forest School Program that lets children learn through risk, adventure, and real-life skills in the natural world.
Especially right now, statistics show how desperately children need more grit, resilience, and nature to help them develop and thrive.
In 12 months, you’ll be so glad you started this now.
